The good old candy shop

Winter is coming! I am so ready for the holiday season because Grand Junction gets even cozier during the holidays. Downtown there are Christmas lights hung all over main street and the shops offer all kinds of specials and deals. It makes shopping local special and it brings people closer together. And one of the staples to the holiday season is Candytime Shoppe on Main Street. You likely remember it being located on the corner on 5th and Main because of its bright rainbow banner.

But alas, for those who go looking for them on the corner of 5th and Main will be highly disappointed to find that they are no longer located there. Have no fear, for they haven’t moved far. Now only two doors down, at 510 Main Street, you can still locate the store due to its new rainbow banner. The move is recent, having only happened a few days ago, but the new location is up and running with new surprises to come.

Kaylee Russell, an employee at the Candy Shoppe on Main Street in downtown Grand Junction said that Ben and Alisse Hall bought the store seven years ago and have run it ever since. While you can find hundreds of different kinds of candy at the shop, it wasn’t enough. The move was brought about by a need for more space. Space for what?

“Expansion – we’re going to get three times the product. We’re adding ice cream and macaroons, we just wanted to be able to expand and have more product,” Russell said. While they don’t have all of the product yet, within the next few months people can expect some serious additions to the candy shop collection.

The new store’s hours haven’t changed much – they are open 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday the store will be open from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Their website will be updated soon with all new photos and hours, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stop by to see them before then!
