Colorado Mesa University welcomed the The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit on Wednesday, Oct. 24. This will be the first time the court has heard cases here on the Western Slope. The three-judge panel heard five different appeals cases at the Love Recital Hall, which is located in the Moss Performing Arts Center.

The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals is one of the thirteen federal appeals courts that are in the United States. The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals covers the states of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming. They also cover some portions of Yellowstone National Park that extend into Montana and Idaho.

These courts are among the most powerful and the most influential courts that are in our country. They have the ability to set legal precedents that are in regions that ultimately can affect millions of Americans.

Later that afternoon, the judges met with students for interaction and a question and answer session.
