Lowell Heiny Hall was filled with students, cookies and music on Friday, Dec. 3, for the first annual Student Success Fair. The Student Success Fair was created this year because faculty, staff and fellow students thought it would be necessary to keep CMU students informed of their academic and financial status for years to come.

Students could stop by to learn how to take care of their holds, completing their FAFSA, completing financial aid requirements and any billing questions they may have.

“We felt there was a need to help break down barriers to allow people to figure out what is going on with their account,” staff member Kathy Kracht said. “One little extra step could help that person take care of business.”

After figuring out what sort of issues a student may have, a staff member would then direct the student either to the registrar’s office, the financial aid office, the advising office or the accounting office and from there the students were helped with their accounts.

Junior Annessa Bryant, said that the staff members were helpful and that she is now less stressed about her student accounts.

“They went above and beyond,” Bryant said.

Bryant was also ecstatic because she found out that she was eligible for a $500 a semester scholarship due to her being a first-generation college student in her family.
