Colorado Mesa University students have a couple of weeks left to turn in their applications for the student showcase. March 1 is the due date for the show in late April.

Applications are online on the CMU website, as well as under the student academics tab in Mavzone.

The faculty mentor has to approve the abstract before the planning committee will consider the submissions. Both an application and an abstract have to be turned in by March 1. In the middle of April, it will be announced who will be presenting.

The showcase is open to all CMU students and the community. There is always a wide range of projects, from posters to dancing or singing to showing off a car. These presentations are judged and at the end of the day, there is an awards ceremony that will announce the best from each category.

Most majors are represented and it is up to the students and sometimes the classes that they are taking. Engineering students have to do a project their freshman year, as well as a year-long project their final year.

The showcase is a chance for students who have been doing research to present their findings. It is a way for all students to show off the work that they have been doing in and outside of class.

If one hasn’t already started and would like to showcase something, make sure to get your abstract to a faculty mentor and into the committee by March 1.
