On Friday April 19, Shayna Lindblom performed her Junior Recital in the Moss Performing Arts Center.

Lindblom’s recital consisted of her playing two different instruments, the piano and the clarinet.

Her recital was part of her Bachelor of Music Performance degree here at Colorado Mesa University. The music was prepared under the direction Dr. Jun Watabe for the clarinet and Dr. Arthur Houle for the piano.

“The reason I chose these pieces was because each piece covered a different era and style of music and each piece brought a different challenge to the table for me to overcome,” Lindblom said.

For the piano portion of her recital she played “Neverland”, (Piano Variations in Blue by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek from Finding Neverland) and The 1st movement of Beethoven’s Sonata in C-Sharp Minor Op. 27 No. 2 (The Moonlight Sonata).

She also played the 6th movement of Arnold Schoenberg’s 6 Little Piano Pieces Op. 19, Petite Piece Concertante by Guillame Balay, Mozart’s Fantasia in D Minor and Saraband the 2nd movement of Debussy’s suite Pour le Piano.

She ended the piano portion with Albert Pieczonka’s Tarantella.

For the clarinet portion, she played Mendelssohn’s Konzerstück Op. 114 which featured Dominique Kennett on clarinet and Jina Silva on piano. She ended this portion with Aaron Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet.

“In regards to my performance, I have never felt more confident on stage, nor had more fun on stage than I did during my recital. I loved being able to share something I love and have worked so hard on with my family, friends, and colleagues,” Lindblom said.
