Road Runner Stage Lines has acquired a new bus through a lease by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The bus will feature a bathroom, 110 outlets and USB ports. The reason for the acquisition of this newer bus was to replace an older 1999 model. The newer bus has been implemented since March 29.
“This bus service is part of the CDOT Plan to expand bus services throughout the state, attracting tourists that don’t want to drive and serving local Residents,” D. Renee St. Andre, who handles marketing and special events for Red Hawk, said. “The popularity of this service is growing monthly. Plans are to have two new buses in 2018.”
The specific bus route will be used for the Durango-Junction bus route. This route is offered daily by Road Runner.
The route begins in the morning starting at Durango and proceeds west to Cortez. It then ventures north, passing Telluride, Montrose and Delta, before finally coming to a stop in Grand Junction. In total, the route makes nine stops: Mancos, Cortez, Dolores, Rico, Telluride, Placerville, Ridgway, Montrose and Delta.
Road Runner provides this route daily, as long as weather permits. The pricing for this route is on an increasing incremental basis, becoming more expensive the further out a desired stop is from the origin.
The pricing for a one-way trip from Durango to Grand Junction will cost $40, and a round trip will cost $80. This bus will provide services to upgrade riders’ experiences as they travel through the San Juan byway.
