Colorado Mesa University will be hosting the renowned columnist Ruben Navarrette Monday at 6 p.m. for a complimentary guest lecture in commemoration of CMU’s Constitution Day, a day celebrating the original signing of the constitution of the United States.
According to his biography, Navarrette is the most widely-read Latino columnist in the country and has spent twelve years working for U.S. newspapers. He has contributed to The Washington Post, USA Today, FOXNEWS.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, the Daily Beast, the Denver Post, Hispanic Magazine and Encyclopedia Britannica, among other publications.
A graduate of Harvard College and the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Navarrette was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 2012 and served as a panelist on PBS’ All-American Presidential Forum in 2007. He also served as a judge for the contests for the Pulitzer Prizes in 2013 and 2014.
Navarrette has also written a book titled “A Darker Shade of Crimson: Odyssey of a Harvard Chicano” (Bantam 199) and has contributed to both “Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul” and “Chicken Soup for the Writer’s Soul.”
Navarrette will be coming to CMU to speak at a guest lecture, as well as to spend time with faculty and students. His guest lecture will take place on September 17 at 6 p.m. in the Love Recital Hall. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
