Redshirt freshman Peter Grossenbacher continued to lead the Mavericks as they finish second in their opening tournament.

The youth continued to dominate on the second day of the Mile High Shootout Golf Tournament.

Collectively as a team, Colorado Mesa University (CMU) would finish with 880 landing them in second place.

Redshirt freshman Peter Grossenbacher continued to lead the Mavericks Tuesday morning. Grossenbacher finished the two-day event with a total of 214 on his scorecard earning a third-place finish in the first tournament of the season. 

Four points separated Grossenbacher and the winner of the tournament Tim Amundson from Colorado School of Mines.

Redshirt Junior Kyle Pearson finished tied for seventh place with a score of 219. Pearson shot three-under-par in his third round giving him a total of 69 points in the round.

Junior Dane Anger and redshirt freshman Bray Lambrecht finished three strokes apart. Ang ended with 75 strokes carded in the third round tying him for 26 place with a total score of 229.  

Lambrecht continued his collegiate career with 232 strokes on the scorecard ending in a tie for 33rd place.

Redshirt freshman Ethan Bishop tied for 11th place with a score of 222.

Freshman Yael Chahin competed as an individual and put a score of 228 on the board that landed him tied for 23rd place. Redshirt freshman Jacob Smith was the other Mavericks competing as an individual and ended up in 39th place with 240 points.

CMU continues its season in El Paso, Texas next weekend in the South Central Region Fall Preview. The tournament is being held at Butterfield Trail Golf Club on Sept. 21 at 9 a.m.
