The Programming Activities Council (PAC) just finished up their Spring Fling, lasting a week from April 29 to May 4.

“Usually we do a stress relief week after the concert because the concert is the week before the last week of classes. We decided to turn stress relief week into Spring Fling, a week of events, just because it gives us more opportunity to do events and get our name out there,” PAC member Brennan Probsdorfer said.

Monday, April 29 was coffee and donuts in the plaza. “We start the week off with coffee and donuts just as an easy start and to catch students on the way to class, and tell them about the other events we’re doing,” Probsdorfer said.

Tuesday, April 30 PAC held a photo booth and chocolate fondue in the plaza, though weather forced them to move inside. Wednesday, May 1 was a screening of Mean Girls in the university ballroom, with the opportunity to meet Daniel Franzese, who acted as Damian in the movie.

Thursday, May 2 was Pub Night. “Pub night gets people out around town. It shows that we do support the community,” Probsdorfer said.

Friday, May 3 was the BBQ and world record breaking event. “The world record is our attempt at starting a tradition. We thought it would be cool each year to try and break a new world record,” Probsdorfer said.

“We’re going for most double high fives in a minute. Over the head of the shorter person, double hand, it’s very specific. There has to be palm to palm contact, we have to submit slow motion video, it’s a whole lot of qualifications to break a record. President Foster is actually going to be the one receiving high fives from everybody,” Probsdorfer said.

Saturday, May 4 held the concert with Drake Bell, Jacob Williams and Juicy J. Attendance for the concert last year was around five thousand and PAC hoped for similar numbers this year.

“This was PAC’s last hurrah before the end of the school year. We just wanted to give students the opportunity to learn about PAC and events for them to attend,” Probsdorfer said. “We weren’t sure if we wanted to give the week a name, but thought Spring Fling was the perfect way to tie it all together.”
