Oktober is upon us

October is here. This tradition filled month has officially started and events are popping up left and right. One of the most celebrated and memorable events is the annual Oktoberfest. This year Oktoberfest AMPED, hosted by Town Square Media, City of Grand Junction and Kannah Creek Brewing Company, is today, Saturday Oct. 13, at Las Colonias Ampitheater, 925 Struthers Ave. 

There are four different ticket options on sale. To partake in the event with an included non-alcoholic beverage and access to the food and music, there is a Designated Driver ticket for ten dollars. The $19 General Admission ticket includes a 16 oz stein, a beer or cider for free, access to all of the events and six dollar refills. For $30 there is a Premium General Admission ticket that provides the same perks as the General Admission ticket with an upgrade to a liter stein. And finally, there are VIP tickets for $50 each which gives purchasers access to a separate area stocked with one-of-a-kind sample beers, complimentary food, a stein and closer parking to the venue. 

This year, 21 different breweries will come together at Oktoberfest. Including Palisade Brewing CompanyKannah Creek Brewing CoRockslide Brewery and many others. These breweries will bring traditional German style brews, as well as a variety of other styles to suit each guest’s preference. And for those who don’t drink beer, there will be wine and local ciders as well. 

In addition to the local brews, there will be live music performed by local bands such as Wave 11Bicycle Annie and Tim & Richard, as well as food provided by local vendors.
