No cabin fever here

Winter is on its way. As CMU students what will we do? The University Center has plenty to do – with pool tables, games, food and socialization. There is no such thing as cabin fever in Junction. Here are some suggestions to take away that locked-in feeling.

Bananas Fun Park

Chris Burns is the manager at Bananas with a quick interview I asked, “Why would a CMU student want to come to Bananas?”

“To work or to play,” Burns said. “If anyone likes fun that’s what it is about. Laser tag AWESOME, go carts AWESOME, just look around you AWESOME,” Burns said.

Burns is right. Bananas Fun park is the way to go if stressed out from studies. Located on 2469 Riverside Pkwy you can’t miss it with the mini golf course and go-carts racing around the tracks. Inside you’re welcomed to an arcade full of games towering taller than you and begging to be played. Grab a few friends and come play in the two-story Laser tag den. Your stresses will melt away with fun and laughter.

Here’s a tip for you – Bananas has package deals and 4-8 pm on Tuesday $10 buys unlimited miniature golf, bumper boats, lazer tag, indoor playland, and go-karts are only $5 per person.

Angelo’s Pottery and Glass Studio

Book a class, a party or just drop in and get to know your friends better while your creativity flows. There is something for everyone!

Glacier Ice Rink

Celebrate the winter coming while skating on the ice. If you don’t have ice-skates, no worries – Glacier Ice Rink has rentals. The best way to get to the ice rink is to come down North and turn left on 25 road onto the Parkway. At the top of the hill, and on your right, you will see a large grey-blue building. Cross over the merge and their sign marks the entrance.

Grand Valley Climbing

Climbing the wall with cabin blues? Make it a real challenge at Grand Valley Climbing. Don’t worry if it’s your first time, they have instructors and a professional staff. Need gear? They got it with their retail shop full of equipment and advice on your first pair of climbing shoes. If climbing is not your thing, they also provide yoga. Get your Zen on!

Red Rock Archery

My friend Jennifer Fraz introduced me, to Red Rock Archery. It is a peaceful place, to practice your archery with several lanes and plenty of room to fire that arrow! The staff is helpful with a retail shop, and their reputation is great!

Get Air

Finally! Jump around, climb and bounce into a better place physically and mentally. You can do this alone or with friends. It’s a great work out that doesn’t feel like one. The exhilaration of knowing you CAN jump on the bed, so to speak, is the best!

Wall to wall bounce, and don’t forget good old dodge ball with a twist, you’re on a trampoline. No worries – the foam pits are under the parkour challenges to break your fall. Get out there and take on the challenge. They even turn out the lights and the place is illuminated by everyone wearing neon suits! Get a refreshment and be ready to do it all again.
