The Colorado Mesa University softball team traveled to Nebraska to take on Chadron State College in what would become a matchup of power from both sides. CMU faced good pitching in the two games on Saturday, however, they were able to take the sweep on the day after the bats were on and solid work in the pitching circle.

The Maverick pitchers were on top of their game as Kimbri Herring started the first game and threw seven complete shutout innings and struck out four.

In the second game, Herring came into relief for Mckenzie Surface as Surface pitched three innings allowed five runs and struck out four of her own. When Herring entered, she pitched the last four innings of the day allowed two runs and struck out two more batters. The two combined for ten hits, six strikeouts and two walks.
