Mavericks Remain Undefeated

The Mavericks have five players record double doubles on Saturday.three of them recorded double doubles in both games.

The Mavericks continued their season against Northwest Nazarene University(NNU) and Westminster college and remain undefeated. 

After losing the first two sets to NNU, Colorado Mesa University(CMU) was able to come back and win the set 3-2. The Mavericks completely dominated in the last two sets beating the nighthawks 25-10 and 15-5. 

The Maverick offense continued to work hard as five athletes recorded double doubles during the first match. Junior outside hitter Holly Schmidt and senior outside hitter Maddi Foutz both recorded their second straight double double with Schmidt having ten kills and 11 digs. Foutz recorded 13 kills and 14 digs.

Libero Emily Tucker helped the mavericks win by having four serving aces. Tucker also recorded a double double herself by getting 10 assists and 11 digs. 

Freshman outside hitter Gabrielle Vogt showed off her defensive skills with four blocks while recording 17 kills offensively. 

The Mavericks took on Westminster College in the second game of their double header and came out on top to be undefeated on the weekend. CMU won the first set 27-25 but then went on to lose the second set 22-25. The Mavericks won the next two sets ultimately winning the match 3-1.

Sophomore middle blocker showed up for CMU helping the team by having 12 kills and hitting .550. Freshman setter Sabrina VanDeList had 24 assists and 17 digs against the Griffins setting early career highs. 

Tucker again helped the Mavericks from the serving line adding four more aces making her total eight aces on the day. Vogt also had double digit kills during the second match recording 12 more for the day.

The Mavericks continue their season against CSU- Pueblo and Chadron State in a pod series against the two teams. The matches will take place in Chadron,Neb. on Feb. 6 at 2 P.M.
