The Mavericks get two victories on Saturday to remain undefeated on the season.

Colorado Mesa University (CMU) travelled to Rapid City S.D. to take on Fort Lewis College (FLC) and South Dakota Mines (SDM) in a pod series. The Mavericks finished the pod series 2-0.

In the first match against FLC, the team took a clean sweep against the skyhawks.

The Mavericks outplayed the kyhawks in every category besides aces with FLC having four compared to the Mavericks three service aces.

On the defensive side of things, sophomore middle blocker Haley Hahn led the team with six while right side Maranda Theleus had five. Senior setter Ara Norwood helped the Mavericks from the back row and had 11 digs.

Senior outside hitter Maddi Foutz continued being an important part of the team by helping her team out and getting 12 kills.

After getting the win from the Skyhawks, the Mavericks competed in their second game of the day against SMU.

SMU gave all they got on the court but it just wasn’t enough as CMU got the win 3-1. CMU’s win was a team effort as most of the team did something in this one.

Junior outside hitter Holly Schmidt completely dominated in this game having a career high 25 kills and 14 digs. Freshman setter Sabrina VanDeList continued her outstanding freshman campaign by helping out her team with a service ace and 23 assists. Foutz was also dominant at the line by having an ace of her own.

Theleus came through again from the right side with seven kills of her own.

The Miners were able to come back after a 25-15 loss in the first set to take the second set 25-19. But that was not enough to win the game.

The Mavericks continue their road series tomorrow in a makeup game against Chadron State in Chadron, Neb. at 1 P.M.
