The Mavericks hosted the University of Colorado Colorado Springs for their final regular-season series at home this Easter weekend. On Friday the Mavericks Swept the day and outscored the Mountain Lions twelve to two. Saturday, the Mavericks took their first loss in 23 games but would come back and win the second game of the day to win the series 3-1.

Connecting the bat to the ball was key in both games on Friday. In the first game, the Mavericks first run was a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning by Kaila Jacobi putting the Mavericks up on the scoreboard. The Mountain Lions responded two innings later with an RBI single to center field with runners at third and second.

Lauren Wedman came up clutch for the team in this one with Jordan Hays and Nicole Christenson on base. Wedman would make the ball fly to right center for a triple letting Hays and Christenson score.

In the second game, Jacobi hit her second dinger of the game over the fence on the left field line but this time it was a two run home run scoring Ann Marie Torres who previously hit a double to the grass in right field to score Brooke Doumer.  Sarah Staudle would add to the Mavericks success of the first with an RBI single to score Wedman.

Herring pitches from the circle against UCCS (Mikayla Olave for the Criterion).

UCCS then responded on a RBI single to right field in the second but that would be the only time the Mavericks would allow them to score for the remainder of the game.

An error scored Alexandria Dufour while Torres and Doumer advanced on the base pass on the play. Hays then took advantage of the previous plays made and doubled to center field scoring Torres. Wedman again helped out the Mavericks by singling through the right side, scoring Jacobi.

The Mavericks were already up by 8 but Dufour secured the sweep of Friday by hitting an RBI single scoring Wedman.

The Mavericks had two of their strong pitchers on the mound on Friday. The first game the team looked to Kimbri Herring to pitch against the Mountain Lions and she earned her 17th win of the season. McKenzie Surface secured her 16th win of the season during the second game while having four strikeouts.

Saturday morning brought the Mavericks to their first lost in 22 games. They lost only by one run 6-7. The Mavericks found all six runs of this game in the fourth inning. Torres had a two run home run in this game as well. Surface would look to give up her first loss of the season. She struck out three when she came into relief for Herring after Herring through five innings and gave up five earned runs.

The team came back out with the want and desire to win the series and they did just that. They found the power back in the bats and dominated 13-3 to get the series finale win.

It started in the second when the Mavericks scored eight of their total thirteen runs. Tegan Woosley hit a two run shot to right field scoring Staudle as well. Lexie Comer would then hit a solo HR to make it a 3-1 game. With the team having scored 13 runs they only did it in 14 hits.

Surface and Shae Mauser were on the hill for the Mavericks. Surface made her third appearance of the weekend and went four innings giving up three runs and having struck out three of the batters she faced. Mauser would be on the hill for the first time this weekend but she did not disappoint she threw one shutout inning and earned the save.

The Mavericks will travel this upcoming weekend to take on New Mexico Highlands and Colorado Christian in an RMAC Pod Weekend.
