Original article:

Police in Grand Junction are searching for a person of interest in the investigation surrounding a body found on Thursday, February 6 around North Avenue.

“Hearing that there’s a body, I want to know why,” CMU sophomore Ryan Ortega said. “I don’t feel any less safe, maybe that’s because I don’t know what’s going on.”

The initial 911 call reported an unresponsive female with obvious injuries. After police arrived, it was discovered that she was deceased.

“It honestly sounds crazy,” CMU senior Gabriela Rodriguez said. “From a worldwide perspective, I feel like Americans tend to think that other countries are very dangerous, but to me this is just another example [that] the U.S is also very dangerous at times.”

Video cameras in the area show a person of interest that police are seeking in relation to the investigation.

If anybody has information regarding the case, they are asked to call 970-242-6707.

The police department is also asking that those living between 15th and 23rd Street between North Avenue and Orchard Avenue contact police if they have surveillance footage available from Thursday afternoon.
