Colorado Mesa University is searching for a new vice president of academic affairs after Cynthia Pemberton recently selected for the president of Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC). She will be leaving her position at Colorado Mesa University this summer.
Pemberton has been with CMU since July 2016.
“At this point, President Foster is evaluating a number of options, with regard filling the upcoming vacancy in the vice president for academic affairs position,” Director of Media Relations Dana Nunn said. “He really is exploring all the options.”
Foster will be meeting with a group of faculty members next week to collect their thoughts on the upcoming vacancy. He is exploring potential candidates, primarily internally. The position has not been posted on CMU’s website.
“The formal process of establishing a search committee, has not yet been implemented because he is looking at some other options internally,” Nunn said.
Foster is considering an interim appointment of one or more of the people who are currently involved in academic affairs or someone from the faculty who has demonstrated the attributes for a person in that position.
“As he looks at that and gathers input, then he will make a determination on what the next steps are,” Nunn said.
Next week, Nunn anticipates an answer from Foster on what these next steps are, whether it involves an interim appointment from inside CMU, a permanent appointment or to begin a national search.
