CMU has options for every student

Colorado Mesa University is well known for taking care of its students and providing the chances for all students on campus to succeed at the highest level. The school understands the cost of tuition, classes, books, etc.; therefore, the university offers a plethora of free service and tools students can use in order to help them succeed in any category.

For an active learner, academics should come first and CMU is taking advantage of the hungry college kids who want to succeed in their classes. The Tutorial Learning Center (TLC), which is located in Houston Hall, is the one-stop-shop for struggling college students who need help in their academics. Peers of the students are available to assist them in almost every topic possible. These tutors will guide and assist the learner to help them understand and excel at the chosen topic. The TLC is not a place in which the tutor does all the homework for the patron. The goal of the TLC is to make sure there is no man left behind and each student has a chance to succeed in their academics.

In the same area of caring for students and their future, there is the Career Services department. Career Services issues resources and future guidance for students and every alumnus for the journey into reaching career excellence. There are career experts working for Career Services in which advise their patrons to observe and seek future career goals by making plans, attending career events, make connections, etc. Many college students come to college not knowing what path they want to follow; therefore, there has to be somebody to help guide them in the right direction.

Another free service for students on campus are those provided at Albers Hall. Albers is located north of the University Center right next to the faculty parking. The former residence hall building is now home to the Office of Student Success and the campus mentors. Most students on campus know Albers Hall as the place where free scantrons are provided. Yet, what they don’t realize, is that it has so much more to offer.

Free counseling sessions are offered by the mentors in Albers and no one is denied a visit. The hard working mentors such as Fran Morales, Jesse Scott and Rose Willett work day in and day out with a compelling passion to help the students of CMU. If any patron has any issues and wants to talk it out in a confidential setting with an understanding mentor, Albers Hall is the place to go.

Besides the well being of students, and the success in the field of academics, CMU provides free services in the athletic field as well. Most of the university is aware of the Maverick Center and how any student or staff member has free access to the facilities, yet the gym is not the only thing they have access to.

The Maverick Center provides free physical exams in which examine the patron’s body fat, heart levels, and overall physical well being. The Mav Center also provides free yoga and spin classes everyone should take advantage of while they are paying for their tuition.

CMU provides many resources college kids can utilize to keep themselves in check and seek out any help they need to succeed. Everything’s better when it’s free, so why not make the best out of it.
