Fall favorites

Great activities for fall

913

Lately we have been talking about all of the fun stuff you can do for Halloween. But for those averse to scares and decorating, this time of year is abundant for all sorts of other fun activities.

Fall is here, and here are a few of my fall favorites.

Although people enjoy the outdoors throughout the year here in the Grand Valley, fall is one of my favorite times to enjoy the local hikes. I abhor the heat. I always joke how the sun and I are enemies. That is an exaggeration, but I honestly only burn. I have never sported a tan and likely never will.

That is why I love fall. The sun still brings warmth but the cool air moderates it. We have amazing and world famous hikes and National Parks which are beautiful because of the leaves changing color. It is also one of my favorite fall activities because I can take my dog with me.

Another one of my favorites is due to nostalgic sentiment. As kids, I’m sure we have all jumped in a pile of leaves and enjoyed as they rained back down upon us. It is a kind of surreal feeling to replay fond childhood memories. I believe that is what will keep us young into our old age.

When I was younger every adult wanted to go for a drive through the mountains to see the change of leaves. That natural beauty was lost on me as a child, but it really is a gorgeous sight to see and is one of my favorite fall activites now that I am an adult. For any of you who haven’t had the opportunity to see the changing of colors – you really are missing out.

And finally, a favorite fall tradition of nearly everyone – pumpkin carving. I know that is normally associated with Halloween and making a creepy creation, but it was more of an average day’s activity in the fall for my family.

Fall is practically over. While you have the chance, enjoy your fall favorites.
