For the fourth year in a row, Alpine Bank brought the Art Festival to the downtown area. The festival aims to promote local art, and to help local artists in the valley demonstrate their work.

This year’s festival was broken into three parts; each part taking place on a different day, filled with busy streets, vendors, and art.

Oct. 4 saw the start of the festival, where attendees could enjoy the local shops while listening to live music.

Oct. 5 had a variety of activities taking place. Main Street was filled with local artists, who spent time talking about their art pieces with community members. A new, upcoming art exhibit, named the 2020-2021 Grand Junction Art on the Corner, was being installed during this time as well. Finally, voting was held for the People’s Choice AOTC (Art on the Corner) award.

The final day of the festival, October 6th, primarily revolved around the film festival, held in the Avalon theatre. Various films – many of which were locally produced, including a select few from Western Colorado Community College’s Digital Filmmaking Program – were entered into the festival to be both judged and enjoyed by critics, community members, and fellow filmmakers alike.

Ultimately, the Downtown Art Festival aimed to bring community members and local artists together, to create a tighter community among artists, vendors, and community members.
