Following the death of a man in Confluence Hall on Sept. 11, an investigation was launched and is still ongoing. The suspect has been identified as Michael Dufresne, 36, according to the Daily Sentinel. Dufresne had only been a resident of Mesa County for a couple months.

The damages Dufresne inflicted upon Confluence Hall ranges from $5,000-$20,000, including flooding in a third floor men’s restroom, a damaged television monitor, and various acts of vandalism, particularly in the lobby of the building.

Confluence Hall was reopened the day after Dufresne’s death, with the exception of the restroom in which the flooding occurred and a few of the surrounding rooms. The third floor men’s restroom is now the only closed off room in the building, but the walls outside the restroom are missing trim, which was damaged in the incident.

Dufresne was charged by the state with 2nd degree burglary and criminal mischief. Evidence collected consists of things the coroner picked up, as well as three swabs of suspected blood. Other items Dufresne had with him were of no apparent significance, including a wallet containing miscellaneous cards.

Fingerprints were lifted from external windows, according to the report. Dufresne also had a backpack and miscellaneous paperwork that allegedly belonged to him.

Also according to the report, Dufresne was wearing a dark colored t-shirt with a Lightning X logo on it, along with a black zippered sweatshirt. Photographs were taken of the crime scene and are now serving as part of the investigation.
