Get ready for fall, CMU

Pumpkin Spice, not my cup of tea

Leaves fall from the trees in various shades of red, yellow and orange. The temperature begins to decline; fall is upon us. There is so much to love about it. Mother Nature shows her magic, changing the colors of the leaves on the trees, then making them fall to the ground for anyone to throw in the air and frolic in. We may be responsible adults, but our inner child who loves to spontaneously jump into huge piles of leaves never leaves us.

Autumn continues to become more magical as the days grow colder; beds, couches and fluffy chairs seem more appealing. Places where anyone can curl up with 50 different blankets to watch Netflix, or read a favorite book. Along with those blankets, a cup of tea to make the setting even cozier is necessary. Once October rolls around, people can’t judge you for watching Tim Burton’s “A Nightmare Before Christmas,” then watching it again and again until the movie has just ingrained itself in your head. You start to walk around singing “What’s This?” and “This is Halloween.” Who could forget “Hocus Pocus?” The classics of the season are vital to enjoy this time of the year successfully.

Out with the sandals and the tank tops, and in with the boots, jackets, hoodies and sweaters. We all know that one person who could probably wear a new jacket everyday for a week and still not be through their collection. The best time for girls to have a boyfriend is in the fall, so that they can steal all of their guy’s hoodies. Wardrobes increase the fab factor with layers to either add or shed depending on the day. Scarves are both fabulous and comfortable. Scarves can also turn into miniature blankets if you try hard enough.

Fall brings the best holidays of the year, Thanksgiving and Halloween. Where can we go wrong with holidays meant for stuffing ourselves? Everything from stuffing, apple pie and dressing up as a favorite fictional character while asking for candy from strangers. The one time of the year when we can fully embrace our naive instincts and dress up to be someone we aren’t. The best part about Halloween is seeing all the amazing costumes made by the overachievers who begin creating their costumes the day after Halloween the previous year. Even if you don’t spend an entire year planning and making your costume, you’ll still look absolutely awesome in whatever costume you decide to wear. Sometimes, last minute costumes can end up even better than carefully executed ones.

The most wonderful time of the year has arrived. Don’t hide the child inside of you. Pull out those jackets, blankets and classic holiday movies. Enjoy jumping in those leaf piles!
