The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Foundation held a Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 10. Day of Giving provided fundraising opportunities for separate departments on campus. One of those fundraisers was the CMU Choral Program.

The CMU Choral program was holding their fundraiser to send 45 students to Eastern Europe to sing for 10 days in different cities in Estonia.

“We’ve reached out to 200 [plus] alumni that have sang with the college, as well as friends, family, and others from around the state in order to reach our goal,” CMU Student Tessa Wick said in an email to The Criterion.

The cost for each member to attend is $3,000. The CMU Choral program had a goal of $5,000 to be raised in the two-day timespan for Day of Giving.

“This trip is once in a life time opportunity to work with a world-famous composer (something that many choirs don’t often have the opportunity to do) and experience Estonian culture while also making an impact on the community through music,” Wick said.

At the current time of this article, the CMU Choral Program has surpassed their original goal of $5,000 and is currently at more than $6,000.
