Colorado Mesa University held a ground breaking ceremony this morning to celebrate the upcoming CMU teaching hotel, which is scheduled to open January, 2020.

At the construction site, a row of loose dirt was laid out for the traditional ceremony, and golden headed shovels were placed throughout, along with Shaw Construction hard hats. After an introduction from CMU President Tim Foster, the members of the board of trustees each took a shovel and students of the hospitality management program joined them.

After the tossing of the dirt, custom CMU hotel pillowcases with mints on top of them were presented to the audience.
