Colorado Mesa University’s (CMU) broadcasting channel, CMU-TV is preparing for an ambitious start to the 2019 school year. They’re anticipating a busy first semester, as they’ll be filming the longest lineup of shows in the history of the channel.

CMU-TV has been up and running for a few weeks now, as they’ve already filmed a special “MAVtalk” with CMU Professor Tim Winegard over his recent New York Times bestselling novel about mosquitoes, and the negative role they’ve played throughout human history.

They’ve also filmed the first “Nitty Gritty” show which features B.J Long from the CMU E-Sports Club. The goal of the interview is to get insight from Long for CMU-TV’s Youtube, to provide Mesa students with an idea as to what the E-Sports Club has planned for the semester.

As mentioned earlier, CMU-TV will be filming the longest lineup of shows they’ve ever had. Expect to see past shows returning this year, such as “Nitty Gritty,” “Whats Going On Grand Junction,” “One Cut,” and “Maverick Post Game.”

The channel will also be bringing on two more shows that were brand new last semester, including “Crossing The Line” and “Maverick Pong.”

“Nitty Gritty” is an interview show that talks about all things CMU – from special guest speakers to clubs and organizations. The show aims to spread the word about their events and upcoming events.

“What’s Going On Grand Junction” is another interview-based show very similar to “Nitty Gritty,” but this one focuses on things happening off campus and highlighting local nonprofits and their events.

“One Cut” is the last interview-based program, which focuses on music and performance. An artist will come in and perform a song; then they’re interviewed regarding what their music means to them, and why they perform their personal style of music.

Another show is “Maverick Post Game,” which is one of the two sports talk shows that CMU-TV offers. As the name suggests, the show focuses on all Maverick sports from varsity all the way down to the club level.

“Crossing the Line” is a new show that was created last year. Unlike “Maverick Postgame,” this sports talk program focuses on sports outside of CMU. In addition to their regular content, “Crossing the Line” hopes to do some fantasy football episodes early this semester.

The final show people can expect to see on CMU-TV is “Mav Pong,” a returning trivia game show featuring a six person double elimination tournament. Two players face off trying to get all the opponents’ cups out of play by making ping pong balls in them as well as answering various trivia questions.

CMU-TV has seen a lot of returning talent for the 2019 school year. Quaid Hamilton is the general manager, where he helps producers put out quality content for each show. Delaney Letts is the social media content producer. Delaney’s job is to keep CMU-TV’s social media up to date and inform followers on upcoming events. She also works as a producer for “Crossing The Line.”

CMU-TV’s content producer is Skyler Frieling, who works to produce “Nitty Gritty,” “What’s Going On Grand Junction,” and “One Cut.” Logan Mikolai is also a content producer and works exclusively on “Mav Pong.”

The last content producer is Justin Platt, who produces and hosts “Maverick Post Game.” The final CMU-TV veteran returning is station manager Jerry Peralta, who has the task of keeping the channel running and maintaining relevant and up to date content.

With the large amount of veteran staff and the mix of new and returning shows, CMU-TV has been having an ambitious to the 2019 school year. General manager Quaid Hamilton feels confident in the channel’s future, saying that “CMU-TV plans to make big strides this semester with our first event and archiving photos of our students, sets, and other things we work on for PR uses.”
