A 20-year-old Colorado Mesa University student, Ciara Romero, died Thursday night after a reported 75-foot fall at a Grand Junction indoor trampoline park, according to the Daily Sentinel.
CMU representative Dana Nunn confirmed that Romero was a student in the fall semester but was not enrolled in any classes for the spring semester at the time of her death.
Get Air at the Silo, which houses multiple indoor trampolines, bungee jumping and a 70-foot rockwall, is closed until further notice according to their website.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel first reported on the fall from police scanner traffic describing a woman who was injured from a fall.
The Sentinel published a statement through Romero’s employer, Hilltop Life Adjustment Program, who reportedly confirmed her identity.
“We want to thank everyone for their support and prayers, and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time,” the statement said according to the Sentinel.
At 3:52 p.m. on Thursday, emergency personnel were dispatched to Get Air at the Silo for “a report of a woman who had fallen from a significant height inside the facility and was unresponsive,” according to Grand Junction Police Spokesperson Heidi Davidson.
Romero was transported to St. Mary’s hospital with life-threatening injuries and died that night.
Grand Junction Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and no further information is currently available, according to Davidson.
