The Colorado Mesa University women’s soccer team found themselves back on the winning side of things as they took on Adam’s State Friday afternoon and defeated the Grizzlies 2-0.

Madison Rasimas was able to find the goal in the first 14 minutes to give the Mavericks an early lead. Rasimas was assisted by Lexi Newton who was able to complete the pass and get her second assist on the season.

Sydney Hathaway was able to find her way down the field all by herself and get a clear shot into the goal only 15 minutes later to find the Mavericks up another goal and what would be the final goal of the game.

The Maverick defense had to come into full force throughout the afternoon though to make sure that the goals by Hathaway and Rasimas were enough to seal the victory. The Mavericks and the Grizzlies both saw good performances by their goalkeepers who had a combined 11 saves at the net with Colorado Mesa having four and Adams State having seven.

Colorado Mesa was able to mostly keep the ball on the attacking side. They took nine shots in today’s game and all of those shots were at the goal. Adam State however only had four of their six shots they were able to only take at the goal.

With the victory Friday afternoon, the Mavericks improved to 8-5-1. They continue to play Sunday with their last road game of the regular season in Durango at Fort Lewis. They then come home for the last two games of the regular season against Dixie State Friday and Westminster next Sunday.
