Healthcare professionals will answer questions about their fields in the University Center Meyer Ballroom Oct. 25. It is the first of two such events that take place yearly. The kinesiology department organizes the discussions.
Twice a year, the kinesiology department hosts a roundtable or panel discussion with several different experts in various fields of health. The roundtable is open to all students, whether they take part in a kinesiology major or not, in hopes of offering a unique experience for those willing to participate.

The first portion of the panel lets the panel members introduce themselves and provide a little backstory as to how they got to where they are and what they do. After the introductions, the panel opens to questions from the audience, so that students can ask the guest speakers any questions regarding their professions, their path to where they are now or any advice as to how to get there as well.
Some of the speakers also offer internships and networking opportunities for those that want to experience the field in action; to be able to practice with an actual business if they get the offer and accept it.
All but one of the speakers work off campus either as an employee or as the head of their practice or business. Some of the speakers that will be featured are Chad Kincaid, Bryce Christianson and Missy Combs. Those speakers specialize in, respectively, prosthetics, chiropractic health and occupational therapy.
Jill Cordova, a professor of Kinesiology and part of organizing the panel, stressed the usefulness and opportunity for students to go to this panel, especially those that are looking into health majors.
“If these are professions that they are interested in maybe pursuing in the future, this is a really nice venue,” Cordova said.
The panel begins at 6 p.m. and is scheduled to go until 7:30 p.m., with the goal of offering substantial time for questions.
