The name comes from the Kokopelli Loop Trails Area. Located in Fruita, the trail is 142 miles long and stretches all the way to Moab, Utah.
Kokopelli is a popular name in the Western Slope. A health and wellness center uses the name here in Grand Junction. Elsewhere there is Kokopelli Farm Market and a liquor store bearing the name.
There will now be a draw for iPads for the students who nominated Kokopelli and from the nine who nominated Redlands.
