After finishing in a tie for 16 place last week, the Colorado Mesa University women’s golf team finished in third place at the two-day tournament hosted by the Western New Mexico Mustangs.
The Mavericks had a solid first round, finishing in second place and carded a team score of 306. Then in the second round carded a team score of 314. The Mavericks were among 17 teams competing.
Ashlyn Kirschner had a solid tournament. Kirschner shot three-over-par 75 in the first round then shot a one-over-par 73 in the second round finished four-over par for the tournament in a tie for seventh place.
Randi Kim got off to a good start in the first round, shooting one-over par 73. Then Kim struggled in the second round shooting nine-over par 81, finishing at 10-over par in a tie for 16 place.
Megan Liborio and Heather Kroll both shot the same score both rounds, 79 and 80 finishing the tournament in a tie for 34 place.
The women’s team will next compete in their final fall season tournament at the Dixie State Invitational in St. George, Utah at Sand Hallow Resort on Oct. 2-3.
