The Colorado Mesa University men’s golf team was up against some tough competition at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite. The two-day tournament took place at Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo, Texas.
The Mavericks placed 12th out of 16 teams. As a team, the Mavericks carded 876 as a team (296, 288, 292) in three rounds of competition.
Grant Olinger had the highest individual performance for the Mavericks, finishing in a tie for 21st. Olinger shot one-under par (71) in the first round, one-over par (72) in the second round and two-under par (70) in the final round. Olinger finished two-under par for the tournament, which would normally have a high place finish in any other tournament.
Brett Krantz and Trey Lambrecht finished in a tie for 47th place. Krantz shot 77, 70, and 73 for 4-over par. Lambrecht shot 74, 72, and 74 for 4-over par for the tournament.
The Men’s golf team will have a couple of weeks off before they compete at the Western New Mexico University Fall Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz. on October 2-3.
