David Anderson is a history major with a concentration in education, who has studied at
Colorado Mesa University since his Freshman year of college. He plans to graduate Decemberof 2017.
Anderson is a dedicated student to CMU and is involved in many clubs and organizations on campus. Not only has he been a member, but has worked his way into leadership positions as well.
His time is balanced between Phi Alpha Theta (a history club), Residence Hall Council, Residence Life, Associated Student Government, Office of Student Success, a peer coach, an orientation leader and an employee of the library.
“I’ve been blessed with mentors and peers in my graduating class,” Anderson said. “To be encouraged by all of these great leaders on campus has been extremely rewarding.”
Anderson promotes encouraging others, campus involvement and personal growth as a
CMU student. Coming to college he felt he was more of a follower but is now proud to say he is a leader. As a senator in ASG, he represents his fellow CMU students when making decisions. Anderson always prioritizes his constituents, and the best of this University.
This Spring election, Anderson was on the election committee and played a huge role in the process. He ran the voting booths, wrote questions for the presidential and vice presidentialdebates, and was a resource to candidates as well as student-voters.
“This election was super easy because it was a clean election which is better for the school and students in the long run,” Anderson said.
According to Anderson, his time in ASG has mainly taught him how to listen. Planning for
the future, Anderson speaks of his many interests and potential paths he could take.
“The ultimate dream is to be a teacher, but ASG has given me a desire to go into politics. The woman I love lives in Virginia for graduate school, the plan right now is to move there and start my career,” Anderson said.
Throughout his college career, Anderson has learned to step out of his comfort zone, to
gain confidence, and to grow.
“Each semester I keep getting better and better and so achieving a louder voice and having more of an impact instead of being average is an amazing thing thanks to CMU,” Anderson said.
