Question: I have a severe Dr. Pepper addiction, five years and going. Unfortunately, campus only sells Dr. Pepper at certain stores, and only in paper cups where the ice melts quick and it gets all gross. How do I get my Dr. Pepper fix while not sacrificing its precious quality?
Dear Dr. Pepper-Head,
There’s a very simple solution that you may be overlooking. Why not ask the certain stores on campus if they’d be willing to fill a reusable cup for you? A Stanley or Owala will keep it ice cold for hours and you’ll have less trash to deal with. Dr. Pepper fans are purists and any slight stray from the perfectly balanced mixture of those 23 flavors is nothing short of blasphemous, so it’s understandable. Watering down the sweet sweet nectar of the gods is not just a waste of money but a surefire way to ruin an afternoon, especially if you’ve been looking forward to it. Another option could be to bring an insulated lunch box with you to school and keep cans or bottles in that with some ice packs. But, that could get bulky and the inevitable “What’s for lunch?” conversation where you explain that it’s actually six cans of Dr. Pepper could be awkward. Either way, I think you have options.
