With the end of the semester comes finals week packed with studying, lots of Rockstar consumption and group projects.
The finals week starts on Dec. 13 and ends on Dec. 16. The finals schedule on the website can be found by searching “finals schedule.”
Instructor of English Kate Belknap had three pieces of advice for students when it comes to finals week.
“First of all, do not stay up all night. It will be completely counterproductive. Your brain works way better when it has plenty of sleep under its belt,” Belknap said.
Her second tip was to check in with professors to make sure of what they want to see on the final. She stated that past coursework and a conversation with the professor can send students in the direction of passing with flying colors.
Belknap’s final tip was coming from a student’s perspective as she is still in school working toward her doctorate.
“[I wish I had] known about this when I was younger, try to put myself in the professor’s position and try to figure out what I would ask as the professor. It was amazing how often I was able to anticipate my professors’ questions once I started doing that,” Belknap said.
Criminal Justice Professor Dr. Eric Waters also had advice for students.
“Find a quiet place [that is] less distracting. Even now when I try to grade papers and things like that, and I need to block out all the distractions, I listen to music, but I always listen to only instrumental music because if there’s lyrics in the music, it distracts me,” Waters said. “If it’s a final that’s cumulative, you know that you need to prepare for a longer period of time because you have to study everything that happened in the course versus if it’s just everything since the midterm.”
Professors are a reliable resource when it comes to acing finals. They can give advice on their class as well as studying tips that will help students succeed in their college careers.
Finals will be the determining factor of a lot of grades and students around campus are studying to get through the last week.
