The annual student showcase celebrates its twelfth year of celebrating student academic achievement.
The motto for the 2021 Student Showcase is “Participate, elevate and inspire.” The work presented at the showcase comes from hours of hard work put in my various students, displaying their creativity, innovation, research and entrepreneurial work through their projects.
“I think it’ll show what this program is about really well, show how hands on we get to work and that will be beneficial for people who may be thinking about this degree or even like possible employers,” junior Mechanical Engineer Cameron Steinaholtz said.
This year’s academic showcase will allow more people than the previous year because of Covid-19 restrictions lowering compared to last year. There are expected to a higher attendance than last year, but less than the previous years because of the ongoing pandemic. Those participating within the showcase are looking forward to having the human connections that were not available last year.
“Since last year the student showcase has officially become completely in person, they’re going to establish a bunch of COVID protocols, like we have to wear a mask,” junior nursing student Gabrielle Lansville said.
After tireless hours of working on projects, students are preparing for finally being able to present their creations and research to an audience.
“We’ve been working on this project all semester, doing an hour fifty, twice a week plus on average, two to three hours outside of class a week,” Steinaholtz said. “It’s a little stressful, we are definitely going to have to ramp up our work, but it’s good to see things actually coming along and start to work out.”
The showcase will be held on April 30, 2021 on the main campus.
