Colorado Mesa University (CMU) and Student Life, as a part of the Safe Together, Strong Together initiative, are holding daily events around campus to keep students safe and healthy this Fall semester.
The events around campus are meant to help students get out of their dorms and meet new people in an environment that is safe. Rather than spending time in their dorms or in their classes, they get the chance to enjoy campus and interact with other students and faculty, while maintaining proper social-distancing requirements.
“It’s important to attend these events because it’s important to get out and socialize especially in times of isolation and separation,” Resident Assistant (RA) Hannah Warner said.
Students can get involved by simply showing up to the events and keeping a watch out for upcoming events this semester.
“I went to Grocery Bingo and I really enjoyed it! It was fun and a great way to hang out with friends and get out of the dorms,” sophomore Mandy McAfee said. “I would definitely attend another event.”
New events happen almost every day all over CMU’s campus and offer a change in pace from the normal school and homework routine.
“I think these campus events are great because they give us students a chance to meet and be around new people, especially with all the restrictions. It is nice to still have some socializing with friends and new faces on campus,” McAfee said.
Upcoming events and their locations can be found on the calendar on the CMU website as well as regularly updated on CMU’s social media platforms each week for students to come and enjoy.
