The Mavericks close out day one with the top spot on the leaderboard.
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is home for this year’s A3 Performance Invitational. This will be a five-day event held between (Wed) Nov. 20th and (Sun) Nov. 24th.
Five total school’s competing against CMU in the El Pomar Natatorium: Colorado School of Mines, Dixie State University, Western Colorado University, Colorado State University-Pueblo and Adams State University.
The first event of the Day One was the women’s 200-Yard medley relay. The lady Mavericks came out on top, contributing a total of 40 points towards the team’s overall score. The men’s team followed suit by contributing a total of 40 points as well in their respected relay.
The women’s 1000-yard freestyle was dominated by the Mavericks as well. Senior Mia Wood (10:11.78) took first place. She was followed by two more CMU swimmers with Abbey Selin (10:38.25) and Robyn Naze (10:38.25) in second and third. The three combined for a total of 53 points.
On the other end, the men’s squad also saw success in their 1000-yard free. Jackson Wuthrich (9:32.85) and Torsten Rau (9:38.87) finished in first and third on the event contributing 36 points between the both of them.
The last event of the day was again another relay. Both the men’s and women’s teams took first place in each 200 Yard Relay.
The Mavericks were looking to make a statement on day one and a clean sweep was the only way.
Day number two will again be held with the prelims starting at 10am.
