The Genders and Sexualities Alliance (GSA) here at Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is combining forces with the Social Work Club to hold a toy drive for this holiday season.
The President of GSA, Avery Ashby, said that CMU students should make a conscious effort to donate because it’s a simple way to do something nice for someone else.
“I think it is important for students to donate to the a Toy Drive because it helps us have a better outcome for underprivileged families in the valley, but it also really helps the community and makes you feel better about spending that money to buy that toy,” Ashby said. “The holiday season is all about giving, so why not give to those who need a little help? It doesn’t have to be an expensive toy either, just something to put in the box that a child would love.”
From Nov. 7 to Dec. 5, they will be collecting donations from CMU students. The donation boxes will be located in the University Center, as well as in Houston Hall and Dominguez Hall. All of the toys will be donated to low income families right here in the valley and will help many children have a magical Christmas.
