The Colorado Mesa University Associated Student Government (ASG) will be holding an online special election from 8 a.m. on Sept. 9 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 10. The need arose when ASG fell short with appointments, currently leaving eight empty seats.
“The Special Election is necessary to better represent the Student Body population. This election will give students the opportunity to make a difference in the Colorado Mesa and Grand Junction community. We currently do not meet Quorum, which means that we do not have enough Senators to conduct ASG business,” ASG Vice President Angel Bautista said.
The current vacant seats are: Teacher Education, Theatre Arts, Physical and Environment, Language Literature and Mass Communication, Engineering, Montrose Campus, Western Colorado Community College and Minority.
With this many vacant seats, why not make appointments instead of holding a special election? “ASG will give the students of Colorado Mesa an opportunity to be involved. This Special Election will allow more candidates, from a bigger pool, to apply,” Bautista said.
To apply, go to OrgSync and fill out the intent form or email ASG VP Angel Bautista at [email protected]. Intent forms are due Friday, Aug. 29.
