Shanae Mundee will enter her new office as director of Student Life on May 20, according to Vice President of Student Services John Marshall. Mundee comes to Colorado Mesa University from Adams State University in Alamosa and was selected from among three candidates for the position.
“The folks at Adams had unbelievably glowing things to say about [Mundee],” Marshall said, adding that he believed she would be a great addition to the team.
Mundee is currently the associate athletic director of health and wellness as well as the senior woman administrator at ASU. “[Mundee] brings new ideas, enthusiasm for the position and a passion for students,” Marshall said in an email sent out to student leaders.
“We are so excited to have [Mundee] join our team, we’re looking forward to having a great new director on campus for Student Life,” Gail Howe, assistant director of Student Life, said.
Mundee will replace former Director of Student Life Dazhon Darien. Darien was dismissed from the position prior to winter break after holding the position for less than a semester. Howe and Manager of Student Life Operations Julie Stump have jointly shared the responsibilities of running Student Life since Darien’s departure.
