Colorado Mesa University Student Mitchell Lee has been determined as the suspected perpetrator of the incident at Tolman Hall in which a fire suppression system sprinkler head was broken, as explained in The Criterion article “Broken water main in Tolman evacuates residents until Friday.”
Lee’s case has been referred to the District Attorney’s office, according to a statement made by CMU.
“University officials have initiated the formal process for university conduct and provided Mr. Mitchell A. Lee with a notice of alleged misconduct,” the statement said.
Vandalism to the sprinkler head caused the temporary displacement of over 80 residents. Their date of return to Tolman Hall is indefinite at this time.
“Law enforcement completed an investigation into an incident that occurred the week of April 22, which included a broken fire suppression system sprinkler head,” the statement said. “The broken sprinkler was an apparent result of vandalism and caused the short-term displacement of students residing in Tolman Hall.”
