The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) radio station, KMSA 91.3 FM, and the 17 Strong Foundation will be hosting a Casino Night in the University Center Ballroom from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, April 26.
Casino Night will be sponsoring the semi-formal event and will include casino games, food and drinks. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes donated by sponsors.
The event will also feature a live performance from Wave 11, a local band. Garret Ball, a CMU baseball player and high school teammate of Ryan Teixeira, will speak at the event.
Teixeira was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a terminal form of Leukemia, five months after signing a baseball scholarship to CMU.
His parents, Holly and Steve Teixeira started the 17 Strong Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving young adults who experienced the trauma of a catastrophic illness a Victory Trip after his diagnosis. 80 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the nonprofit organization.
Casino Night will be open to all community members and CMU students who are older than 18. Entry for the event is $10 which can be paid at the door. Students can RSVP to the event on the KMSA 91.3 FM Facebook page.
