The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, held their fundraiser, Pie the Professor, in the field between the Tomlinson Library and the Moss Performing Arts Center on March 12, 2019.
The fundraiser was held as a benefit for the Holocaust Awareness Series. Dr. RosenBaum, Dr. Patarino, Dr. Winegard and Dr. Swedberg all volunteered to receive a pie in the face from 11 a.m. – noon and 2 – 3 p.m. for $5 per pie.
“Dr. Swedberg is going to be our special guest,” Olivia Blackwell, Vice President of Phi Alpha Theta, said. “She’s not on the flyers and she’s also right now on sabbatical so she’s coming in on her time off to help us.”
Blackwell is a senior majoring in history and secondary education at CMU. “It was always just kind of my dream to do this fundraiser,” Blackwell said. “It’s been planned pretty much the whole year.”
Phi Alpha Theta hoped to raise around $200 to be able to take a Holocaust survivor out to dinner. Pie the Professor ran on Tuesday before Spring Break.
