The Tutorial Learning Center recently implemented a writing center in Houston Hall room 233. It’s open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday to help students with any of their writing assignments.
“We have tutors from many different disciplines and can help in the various stages of the writing process,” TLC Director Christine Murphy said.
In every academic department, students are required to do some form of writing. Not every student easily understands the different format styles and not every student has the skills required to write a good piece of work. There are a total of 15 tutors with more to come that are ready to help any student complete their writing assignments in a reputable way.

The Writing Workshop helps students go through the process of producing a well-rounded piece of work by walking them through step-by-step, with tricks and tips. Some specifics the TLC helps students help with are creating new and interesting content that can influence different perspectives.
The tutors will help students start their paper and make sure the paper is in the correct format for the assignment. The tutors are also happy to edit and revise pieces of work to help create the ideal writing piece. The TLC knows all of the basic and common format styles: APA, MLA and Chicago style, and helps students correctly apply these styles to their work. In the case of a student needing help with an uncommon format style, the tutors know and can teach other styles as well.
