Colorado Mesa University’s student-run magazine, Horizon Magazine, will launch its Fall 2018 issue with a launch party on Nov. 14 at The Point. The gathering will take place from 7-11 p.m. and feature DJ Hubb, stickers, happy hour drinks and the official reveal of the publication. The staff and contributors will have only seen the magazine that morning.

Horizon Photo Editor Megan Dirksen said the magazine has taken on new angles and new stories this semester.
“The types of stories were very different than what we’ve done,” Dirksen said.
Horizon Magazine is released once per semester and is entirely student-run by writers, editors, graphic designers, and photographers.
“It shows the talent on campus and it’s an outlet for students who want to be involved,” Dirksen said. “It’s really good experience for getting involved on campus.”
The launch party will allow students to showcase the product they’ve been working on since the beginning of the semester. Dirksen said it will also be a way for students who are not involved to get an idea of the type of work involved.
After the launch, Horizon Magazine will be available for free on racks around campus.
