Colorado Mesa University will host a gubernatorial debate between Walker Stapleton and Jared Polis next month. The debate will focus on rural Colorado issues. Associated Student Government will host a Watch Party during the debate. Both events will be open to the public.
The debate between Colorado governor candidates will take place on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Moss Performing Arts Center. Seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The Watch Party will be hosted in The Point from 6-9 p.m.
According to ASG Vice President Jeff Vela, “All students and community members are encouraged and welcome to the Watch Party at The Point as seating is limited at Moss Performing Arts Center.”
Walker Stapleton is the Republican candidate for governor of Colorado. Stapleton is currently serving in his second term as Colorado’s state treasurer. Stapleton was first elected to the office in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.
Jared Polis is the Democrat candidate for governor of Colorado. Polis is a former member of the Colorado Board of Education and has been serving as a U.S. representative for Colorado’s second congressional district since 2009.
