Colorado Mesa University hosted their annual Donors & Scholars reception Wednesday. It was a gathering of both the Foundation Scholarships donors and the students who received those scholarships.
As the students checked in they were given a red carnation to be given to a donor, as a way of letting the donors know their appreciation for their donations to the scholarships that they received. Without their donations, they would not have the numerous foundation scholarships that we have.
Associated Student Government (ASG) President Beau Flores thanked the donors on the students’ behalf. “It’s more than a thank you, it is a life that has been changed,” Flores said. Following his speech, Mesa OutLoud! performed for the crowd.
ASG’s Student Trustee Amara Hobbs took the stage after that and told of her story of the gift of a scholarship she received. She explained that the Foundation Scholarship that she had received is paying for her entire education at CMU.
The application period begins in October and the priority deadline is in December.
