Colorado Mesa University offers an Emergency Warning System for students and faculty. The school contracts with a notification system provider to send messages in case of emergencies on campus.
“That’s not new, so those who are already signed up are still signed up. That is an opportunity for new folks, to the campus, to sign up. But, we have I think 9,600 or 9,700 people currently signed up. And when first time entering freshman get registered, they’re prompted to do that, initially,” Vice President of Student Affairs John Marshall said.

When logged into MavZone the “Personal” tab under the My Account section houses the ‘CMU Emergency Warning System Contact Information’ which is where the service can be enabled.
It is entirely optional and those who wish to receive the notification need only to opt-in on MavZone. The participant’s name, number and preference on whether to receive texts or only voice messages are the only pieces of personal information needed to enable the service.
