This semester starts with a new MavZone for students at Colorado Mesa University. While it does seem to be more user friendly, many students are used to the old platform. This is especially true for juniors and seniors who have used the previous platform for the last few years.
As a senior I did not like it at first either. Once I sat down and really began to use it I found it to not be so bad. The best part is you can choose what applications are shown on the dashboard screen. I found that to be a great addition.
With the old MavZone you only had a few links on the initial screen. With the new platform everything is there on the first screen after you sign in. The new platform also has links to the information that you would find on the main page for CMU.
When you do ask students if they love it or hate it, it seems that the consensus is that they really don’t like it all. For those students who prefer the old MavZone, they have until Sept. 1 to use it. As of that date the old platform will no longer be available to use.

With that being said, I believe that most of us are just beginning to use the new one to get used to it. It is going to be an adjustment but the sooner we acclimate ourselves to the new platform the better the transition will be.
While for some change is hard to adjust to, for others it is just another day. Most students are technologically savvy, so this change really won’t be a big deal. It is just the frustration that returning students are having trying to learn where everything is on the new platform. It is things like locating the financial aid stuff and even your concise schedule that are not easy to locate.
As humans we don’t really adjust to change easily, but we eventually will. That is until the next change!
