Students and staff had to evacuate Escalante Hall Monday due to the fire alarm going off. Campus officials acted quickly and determined that a false alarm was set off due to a faulty sensor panel.

The false alarm was cleared quickly and there was no full evacuation required.
“These type of events always remind us about the importance of testing and assessing our emergency response hardware, which we do on an ongoing basis,” Director of Public Relations David Ludlam said.
